Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL of MA5-45322 was sufficient for detection of GRP78 in 20 µg of HEK-293 lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects approximately 78 kDa.
Target Information
GRP78 (Glucose Regulated Protein 78) is a 78 kDa heat shock protein (HSP70 family) localized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It assists in folding of newly synthesized proteins and targets misfolded proteins for degradation.
The C-terminal KDEL sequence enables ER retention via the KDEL receptor.
GRP78 plays a crucial role in protein homeostasis, cell survival, and protection against apoptosis. It is a biomarker of hypoglycemia and neuroprotection, with reduced levels observed in Alzheimer’s disease and certain PS1 gene mutations.
Induction of GRP78 has been linked to drug resistance in cancer therapy.
