Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL of MA5-45320 was sufficient for detection of GRP78 in 20 µg of HEK-293 lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects approximately 78 kDa.
Target Information
GRP78 is a 78 kDa glucose-regulated protein belonging to the HSP70 family. It is an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) resident protein that assists in folding newly synthesized secretory and membrane proteins. GRP78 interacts with misfolded proteins to target them for degradation and contains the conserved KDEL sequence for ER retention. It plays a critical role in cell homeostasis and apoptosis prevention. GRP78 levels serve as biomarkers for hypoglycemia and neuroprotection under oxidative stress. Reduced GRP78 expression is observed in Alzheimer’s disease and PS1 gene mutations. Induction of GRP78 is also associated with drug resistance in cancer cells.
