Product Specific Information
- Reconstitute in 50 µL sterile water.
- Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
- Store lyophilized antibody at 2–8°C.
- Thawed sample should be stored at 4°C for no longer than 2 weeks.
- Addition of antibacterial agent can increase shelf life.
- Diluted serum should be prepared as required.
- For long-term storage, aliquot and keep at -20°C or lower.
- Glycerol (1:1) may be added for enhanced stability if compatible with intended use.
Target Information
Agouti-related protein (AgRP), also called agouti-related peptide, is a neuropeptide produced in the brain by AgRP/NPY neurons. In humans, the agouti-related peptide is encoded by the AGRP gene, which acts as an antagonist of melanocortin-3 and melanocortin-4 receptors.
It regulates hypothalamic control of feeding behavior and plays a key role in energy balance and weight homeostasis.
Mutations in this gene have been associated with late-onset obesity.
