Product Specific Information
Reconstitute in 50 µL sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. Store thawed sample at 4°C for no longer than 2 weeks. Use of anti-bacterial agent can extend shelf life. Prepare diluted serum as required. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or lower. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability if compatible with intended use.
Target Information
Oxytocin and neurophysin I are encoded by the same gene. Oxytocin is synthesized in the hypothalamus as an inactive precursor with its carrier protein neurophysin I. Together, they are transported to the posterior pituitary for storage or secretion. Oxytocin plays a role in smooth muscle contraction during parturition and lactation, and is involved in cognitive, social, and maternal behaviors, as well as regulation of water excretion and cardiovascular functions.
