This JAV4 monoclonal antibody recognizes human VSIG4 (V-Set and Immunoglobulin domain containing 4), also known as Complement Receptor of the Immunoglobulin superfamily (CRIg) or Z39Ig.
VSIG4 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein related to the B7 family of immune regulatory proteins, expressed on tissue-resident and tumor-infiltrating macrophages. It binds complement components C3b and iC3b to inhibit the alternative complement pathway and support phagocytosis.
VSIG4 also suppresses T cell activation and IL-2 production, contributing to peripheral tolerance and inflammation control. Expression on tumor-infiltrating macrophages suggests a role in immune evasion.

VSIG4 is a negative regulator of murine and human T cell proliferation and IL-2 production.
It is a member of the B7 family involved in modulation of T cell activation by antigen-presenting cells (APCs).
