Target Information

Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, composed mainly of NF-L, NF-M, and NF-H. These proteins play a key role in maintaining neuronal caliber and are developmentally regulated. NF-H is particularly important in mature axons and is associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
