Target Information
The initiation of transcription is controlled in part by a large protein assembly known as the preinitiation complex. A component of this complex is the Mediator, a 1.2 MDa protein aggregate that interacts with a CDK8 subcomplex. This subcomplex includes MED12, MED13, CDK8 kinase, and cyclin C. MED12 plays a key role in transcriptional regulation as part of the Mediator complex.
