Product Specific Information
The eBioMC-631 (MC-631) monoclonal antibody reacts with the carbohydrate moiety galactosylgloboside on Stage-specific embryonic antigen-3 (SSEA-3). Expression is restricted to the surface of human teratocarcinoma stem cells (EC), human embryonic germ cells (EG), and human embryonic stem cells (ES), and is downregulated following differentiation.

This antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis, immunohistochemical staining, and immunocytochemistry.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of the 2102Ep cell line. Recommended usage ≤ 0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.
Purity: Greater than 90%, determined by SDS-PAGE.
Aggregation: Less than 10%, determined by HPLC.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
SSEA-3 (Stage-specific embryonic antigen 3) is a cell surface antigen expressed with SSEA-4, TRA-1-60, and TRA-1-81 in embryonic stem cells, embryonal carcinoma cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS). In human cells, these surface markers are downregulated during differentiation, while SSEA-1 is absent in undifferentiated human stem cells and upregulated after retinoic acid-mediated differentiation. In mouse stem cells, SSEA-1 expression decreases with differentiation while SSEA-3 and SSEA-4 expression increase.
