Product Specific Information
The 53-6.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8a molecule, a 32–34 kDa cell surface receptor expressed as CD8αβ or CD8αα dimers. CD8 binds MHC class I and, through association with p56lck, plays a role in T cell development and activation.

- Applications Tested: Flow cytometry of mouse thymocyte or splenocyte suspensions (≤0.125 µg/test)
- Recommended Conditions: Final volume 100 µL; cell number 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test

Target Information
CD8 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family, functioning as a co-receptor with TCR for MHC class I molecules. It is expressed on T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. CD8 engagement with MHC-I/peptide complexes triggers Lck recruitment, lymphokine production, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte activation, essential for pathogen and tumor clearance.
