Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the kinesin 4 subfamily of kinesin-related proteins, also known as chromokinesins. The encoded protein is an ATP-dependent microtubule-based motor involved in intracellular transport of membranous organelles. It associates with condensed chromosome arms and may help maintain chromosome integrity during mitosis. Additionally, it may contribute to central spindle organization before cytokinesis. A pseudogene of this gene exists on chromosome X.
