Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD86 is one of two ligands (the other being CD80) for CTLA4 and CD28. It acts as a costimulatory molecule in eliciting T-cell help during antigen presentation.
Antigen presentation without adequate CD86/CD80 co-stimulation can induce tolerance.
CD86 is a type I membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, expressed by antigen-presenting cells.
It binds to CD28 and CTLA4 on T cells, providing stimulatory or inhibitory signals for T-cell activation.
Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants.
CD86 dysfunction has been associated with gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
