Product Specific Information
- Tested in direct ELISA (use antibody at 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
CD86 is one of two ligands (the other being CD80) for CTLA4 and CD28. It functions as a costimulatory molecule during antigen presentation, promoting T-cell activation.
Inadequate co-stimulation via CD86/CD80 can induce immune tolerance.
CD86 is a type I membrane protein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is expressed by antigen-presenting cells.
Binding of CD86 with CD28 provides a stimulatory signal for T-cell activation, while interaction with CTLA4 negatively regulates activation, reducing immune response.
Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants of CD86.
CD86 dysfunction has been associated with diseases such as gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
