Product Specific Information
Clone HP2/1 binds to both intact and the 80 kDa fragment of integrin alpha-4.
This antibody is useful for studies of VLA-4–mediated adhesion and its interaction with VCAM-1, and has been shown to inhibit cell binding to soluble VCAM-1.
This product contains sodium azide; removal by dialysis is recommended prior to use in functional assays.
Mouse anti-Human CD49d monoclonal antibody (clone HP2/1) recognizes human CD49d, also known as integrin alpha-4 or the VLA-4 subunit alpha.
Target Information
Integrin alpha 4 (CD49d, ITGA4) is a member of the integrin alpha chain family.
Integrins are heterodimeric membrane proteins composed of alpha and beta chains. The alpha4 chain associates with either beta1 or beta7 chains.
Ligands for integrin alpha4 include MadCAM, VCAM, and fibronectin. MadCAM is the principal ligand for integrin alpha4β7.
It has been demonstrated that HIV-1 envelope proteins can mimic MadCAM by binding to and signaling through integrin alpha4β7, the gut mucosal homing receptor for peripheral T cells.
