F1Aalpha/FEM1-b는 C. elegans의 성결정 단백질 FEM-1의 상동체이며, CED-3와 caspase에 의해 절단됩니다. 또한 CED-4 및 Apaf-1과 상호작용하며, 과발현 시 세포사멸(apoptosis)을 유도합니다.
F1Aalpha는 다양한 인간 및 생쥐 조직에서 발현되며, apoptosis 매개 단백질로 기능하는 death receptor 관련 단백질입니다.
