Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It functions in platelet aggregation and serves as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin.
CD61 is a 105 kDa glycoprotein that associates with alpha IIb integrin (CD41) or alpha V integrin (CD51) at the cell surface. It is expressed on platelets, megakaryocytes, endothelial cells, monocytes, and osteoclasts.
The CD61 protein consists of alpha and beta chains that can combine with multiple partners to form different integrins. CD61 plays roles in cell adhesion and cell-surface mediated signaling.
Diseases associated with CD61 dysfunction include Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
