Product Specific Information

The 16-10A1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD80 (B7-1), a 55 kDa member of the Ig superfamily. CD80 is expressed by macrophages, dendritic cells, and activated B cells, as well as activated T cells. It binds with high affinity to CD28 and CD152 (CTLA-4) on T cells, playing a crucial role in T-B cell communication and activation.

• Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.
• Applications Tested: Validated in flow cytometric analysis of activated mouse splenocytes at ≤0.125 µg/test.
  A test is defined as the antibody amount required to stain cells in a final volume of 100 µL. Recommended titration for optimal performance.

Target Information

CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) serve as ligands for T cell costimulatory molecule CD28 and inhibitory receptor CTLA-4 (CD152). Both are expressed on antigen-presenting cells and are essential for T cell activation.
CD80 is rapidly induced on activated B cells and is associated with various cell lines including EBV-transformed and Burkitt’s lymphoma cells. It provides regulatory signals to T lymphocytes via CD28 and CTLA4 binding.
Diseases associated with CD80 dysfunction include gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
