Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65), encoded by the RELA gene on chromosome 11 in humans, is also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A). It belongs to the Rel family of proteins and forms a heterodimer with subunits p50 or p52. NF-kB p65 plays a critical role in transcriptional regulation of immune response genes, including the immunoglobulin κ (kappa) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells. Activation occurs via TNFα-mediated IKK phosphorylation, leading to IκB degradation and NF-kB nuclear translocation.
