Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA, it belongs to the Rel family of proteins and forms one of the two subunits of NF-kB (Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells). NF-kB p65 typically heterodimerizes with p50 or p52 subunits. Upon TNF-alpha binding to its receptor, IKK becomes phosphorylated, leading to phosphorylation and proteasomal degradation of IκB, which allows NF-kB p65 to translocate to the nucleus and activate transcription of target genes, including the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
