Specificity: D1 has been shown to bind to BSA in panning experiments from phage display. Albumin is a secreted globular protein found in blood plasma and BSA has multiple biochemical applications including ELISAs and immunohistochemistry. It can increase protein stability and serve as a standard in Bradford assays.
Target Information
Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein comprising about half of the blood serum protein. It functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones, and helps stabilize extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular, unglycosylated serum protein (~65,000 Da), synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin, which is processed to proalbumin and finally cleaved to form secreted albumin.
