MA5-14464 targets Calponin-1 in IHC (P) applications and shows reactivity with Human samples.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide derived from near the C-terminus of human Calponin-1.

Target Information

Calponin is a thin filament-associated protein involved in the regulation and modulation of smooth muscle contraction. It binds to actin, calmodulin, troponin C, and tropomyosin.
Calponin is expressed in smooth muscle and tissues containing significant amounts of smooth muscle. Two isoforms exist (34 kDa and 29 kDa). The 29 kDa form is primarily restricted to urogenital tract muscle.
Expression has also been demonstrated in myoepithelial cells from benign and malignant breast lesions. It stains smooth muscle, myoepithelial cells, myofibroblasts, keratinocytes, and nerve fibers.
Calponin helps differentiate breast collagenous spherulosis (positive) from adenoid cystic carcinoma and is positive in adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary glands.
