Product Specific Information

MA5-15711 targets CDH1 in indirect ELISA, FACS, IHC, and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Non-human primate samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human CDH1 expressed in E. coli.
MA5-15711 detects CDH1 with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 135 kDa.

Target Information

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily. It is a cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprising five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in this gene are associated with various cancers, including gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancer. Loss of function contributes to cancer progression by increasing proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
E-cadherin also mediates bacterial adhesion and is essential for internalization processes. It plays a central role in maintaining tissue architecture and integrity.
In humans, E-cadherin is encoded by the CDH1 gene located on chromosome 16. Reduction or loss of E-cadherin expression correlates with increased tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential.
