Target Information

Cyclins are regulatory subunits of Cdc2 p34 and related cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks), which play key roles in controlling cell cycle progression.

  • Cdc2–cyclin B complex: controls G2 to M transition
  • Cdc2–cyclin A complex: regulates S phase progression
  • G1 cyclins: control G1 to S transition
    Cyclin G contains an N-terminal cyclin box and a C-terminal domain homologous to the tyrosine phosphorylation site of the EGF receptor. Cyclin G expression is induced within 3 hours of growth stimulation and remains elevated without cell cycle dependency. Cyclin G2 shares 53% amino acid sequence identity with Cyclin G1, with peak expression in late S phase, whereas Cyclin G1 expression is constitutive.
