Target Information

FceR1 (Fc epsilonR1 alpha) is a subunit of the high-affinity receptor for IgE. Fc epsilonR1 alpha forms a tetrameric complex consisting of one alpha, one beta, and two additional subunits required for signal transduction. This receptor plays a key role in triggering allergic responses. When allergen-bound IgE molecules crosslink high-affinity IgE receptors, mediators such as histamine are released, leading to allergic symptoms. The IgE receptor couples allergen and mast cells to initiate inflammatory responses characteristic of conditions like hay fever and asthma. The release of histamine and proteases induces synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, potent effectors of hypersensitivity responses.
