Product Specific Information
- Antibody is tested in direct ELISA (use at 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Spectrins are principal components of the membrane-cytoskeleton, composed of two alpha and two beta spectrin subunits.
The gene SPTBN2 encodes spectrin beta non-erythrocytic 2 (βIII spectrin), distinct from SPTBN1 (βII spectrin).
SPTBN2 regulates the glutamate signaling pathway by stabilizing the glutamate transporter EAAT4 on the plasma membrane surface.
Mutations in this gene cause spinocerebellar ataxia type 5 (SCA5), characterized by neurodegeneration, progressive locomotor incoordination, dysarthria, and uncoordinated eye movements.
