It is also involved in cell migration, adhesion, transcriptional activation, and apoptosis.
Defects in this gene cause familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), an autosomal dominant pre-malignant disease that often progresses to malignancy.
Disease-associated mutations are typically clustered in the mutation cluster region (MCR), resulting in truncated protein products.
