Product Specific Information

Specificity: Binds human interferon gamma, a dimerized soluble cytokine that is the only member of the type II class of interferons.

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor and immune interferon produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens, mitogens, and cytokines.
It is a dimeric glycoprotein composed of two 146 amino acid subunits, forming a functional homodimer (~45 kDa).
On SDS-PAGE, IFN gamma appears as 25, 20, and 15.5 kDa bands due to differential glycosylation.

Human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse IFN gamma.
It is upregulated by IL-2, FGF basic, EGF, and downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN.
