CD42a는 단일 사슬 막 당단백질로, GPIb와 비공유 결합 복합체를 형성합니다 (분자량 약 23 kDa).
이 단백질은 안정 및 활성화된 혈소판과 반응하며, 단핵구, 거핵세포에서 약하게 발현됩니다.
혈소판 세포막과 세포골격 하부막의 부착 부위로 작용하며, GPIb/IX 복합체의 일부로서 von Willebrand factor의 결합 및 부착 수용체로 기능합니다.
