PAK2는 소형 GTPase인 CDC42 및 RAC1의 하위 효소로 작용하며, 이들의 활성형 결합에 의해 구조적 변화와 여러 세린/트레오닌 잔기의 자가 인산화가 유도됩니다.
Full-length PAK2는 세포 생존과 성장을 촉진하며, PAK 단백질은 Rho GTPase를 세포골격 재구성과 핵 신호전달에 연결하는 중요한 인자입니다.
PAK 단백질군은 세린/트레오닌 p21-활성화 키나아제로, Cdc42 및 RAC 단백질의 표적이며 다양한 생물학적 과정에 관여합니다.
