HYB 238-04B-01 detects Surfactant protein A in human samples .

HYB 238-04B-01 has been successfully used in ELISA procedures. In Western blotting after SDS-PAGE, HYB 238-04B-01 reacts with reduced forms of SP-A and weaker with non-reduced Forms. In immunohistochemical staining from paraffin embedded tissue samples, HYB 238-04B-01 reacts specifically with human SP-A. Immunoreactivity is seen with alveolar type II cells, nonciliated bronchial cells and a subset of alveolar macrophages. No reactivity in samples from pancreas, intestines, thymus, prostate gland or the peritoneal cavity lining cells.

The HYB 238-04B-01 immunogen is native SP-A purified from bronchioaveolar lavage from proteinosis patients.

NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL

Target Information

Surfactant protein A is an innate immune system collectin. The gene encoding SP-A map to mouse chromosome 14. Surfactant protein-A, which plays a role in innate host defense in the lung, is also expressed in the Eustachian tube. We report that the frequency of specific surfactant protein-A haplotypes and genotypes differs between children with recurrent otitis media compared with a control population.
