Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL of MA5-45526 was sufficient for detection of Ankyrin-B in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 200 kDa. No cross-reactivity against Ankyrin-G.
This antibody was formerly sold as clone S105-13.
Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the ankyrin family of proteins that link integral membrane proteins to the underlying spectrin-actin cytoskeleton. Ankyrins play key roles in cell motility, activation, proliferation, contact, and maintenance of specialized membrane domains.
Most ankyrins consist of:
- Amino-terminal domain with multiple ankyrin repeats
- Central region with conserved spectrin binding domain
- Carboxy-terminal regulatory domain (least conserved, variable)
The encoded protein is required for targeting and stability of Na/Ca exchanger 1 in cardiomyocytes. Mutations in this gene cause long QT syndrome 4. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
