Product Specific Information

1 µg/mL of MA5-45527 was sufficient for detection of Ankyrin-B in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects approximately 200 kDa. No cross-reactivity against Ankyrin-G.
This antibody was formerly sold as clone S105-13.

Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the ankyrin family of proteins that link integral membrane proteins to the underlying spectrin–actin cytoskeleton. Ankyrins play key roles in cell motility, activation, proliferation, contact, and maintenance of specialized membrane domains.
Most ankyrins are composed of three structural domains:

  • Amino-terminal domain with multiple ankyrin repeats
  • Central region with conserved spectrin binding domain
  • Carboxy-terminal regulatory domain (least conserved and variable)

The protein encoded by this gene is required for targeting and stability of Na/Ca exchanger 1 in cardiomyocytes. Mutations in this gene cause long QT syndrome 4. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
