Product Specific Information

The CEW33D monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD183 (CXCR3), a G protein-coupled chemokine receptor that binds ligands CXCL9 (MIG), CXCL10 (IP-10), and CXCL11 (I-TAC). CD183 is strongly associated with type 1 immunity and is induced in naive T cells upon activation. It remains upregulated in Th1 cells, CD8 effector cells, NK cells, and NKT cells. CD183-ligand interactions mediate infiltration of inflamed tissues in both normal immune responses and inflammatory or autoimmune diseases. Expression is also observed in some B cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested on normal human peripheral blood cells at ≤ 0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell count range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

This gene encodes a G protein-coupled receptor selective for chemokines IP10, Mig, and I-TAC, which belong to the CXC chemokine family. Binding induces leukocyte trafficking responses such as integrin activation, cytoskeletal changes, and chemotaxis. The receptor couples to Gi-class G proteins and undergoes phosphorylation-dependent internalization upon activation, followed by recycling to the cell surface. It is prominently expressed in effector/memory T cells and inflamed tissues, contributing to immune cell recruitment. Due to its role in inflammation, CXCR3 is a potential target for small-molecule antagonists aimed at treating inflammatory diseases. Multiple transcript variants exist.
