Target Information
SPINK6 (serine peptidase inhibitor, Kazal type 6), also known as BUSI2, is an 80 amino acid secreted protein that contains one kazal-like domain and functions as a serine protease inhibitor.
The SPINK6 gene maps to human chromosome 5, which comprises nearly 6% of the human genome and is associated with several genetic disorders, including Cockayne syndrome (ERCC8 gene), familial adenomatous polyposis (APC gene), Treacher Collins syndrome (TCOF1 gene), and Cri du chat syndrome (deletion of p arm). Deletion of chromosome 5 or its q arm is also common in therapy-related acute myelogenous leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome.
