Product Specific Information
- PA1-516 detects glucocorticoid receptor (GR) alpha from human, mouse, and rat tissues.
- Does not detect GR beta.
- Suitable for Western blot, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation (ChIP).
- Detects ~94 kDa GR protein in HeLa cell lysate.
- Immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 755–771 of human GR alpha (Cat. # PEP-221).
- Reconstitute with 50 µL of distilled water.
Target Information
Glucocorticoid Receptor (NR3C1) is a receptor for glucocorticoids acting as both a transcription factor and regulator of other transcription factors. It forms heteromeric cytoplasmic complexes with heat shock factors and immunophilins. Upon ligand binding, it translocates to the nucleus.
GR is expressed in the heart—detected in atria, ventricles, aorta, apex, septum, and atrioventricular node.
Alternate splicing and promoter usage produce several transcript variants and isoforms.
Mutations in the GR gene cause glucocorticoid (cortisol) resistance.
GR interacts with chaperone protein complexes for ligand activation and binds steroids such as dexamethasone with nanomolar affinity.
