Target Information

The EBP1 gene encodes an RNA-binding protein involved in growth regulation. It is present in pre-ribosomal ribonucleoprotein complexes and may play a role in ribosome assembly and rRNA processing. EBP1 interacts with the cytoplasmic domain of the ErbB3 receptor, contributing to growth signal transduction. It also acts as a transcriptional co-repressor of androgen receptor-regulated and other cell cycle regulatory genes via histone deacetylase interactions. This protein has been linked to growth inhibition and differentiation induction in human cancer cells. Six pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 3, 6, 9, 18, 20, and X.
