Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene and located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), it belongs to the Rel family of proteins. NF-kB p65 forms a heterodimer with other subunits such as p50 or p52. Upon TNF alpha binding, IKK is phosphorylated, leading to phosphorylation and proteasomal degradation of IκB, thereby activating NF-kB signaling. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in transcriptional regulation of the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
