Product Specific Information

• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge if solution is not clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
• Immunoelectrophoresis assay shows a single precipitin arc against anti-Chicken Serum.
• Directed against 12,300 MW human MIF protein, useful for detection in various assays.
• For neutralization experiments, incubate sample with a 1:500 dilution for ≥4 hours before testing.
• Use similarly diluted normal chicken IgG as control.
• In FACS analysis, note possible non-specific interaction of chicken IgG Fc domain with cells.

Target Information

MIF (Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor) is a cytokine initially identified as a T cell-derived factor inhibiting macrophage migration. It acts as a pituitary hormone counterregulating glucocorticoid action in the immune system. MIF is secreted by macrophages and T cells in response to glucocorticoids and counteracts steroid-induced immunosuppression. It plays a critical role in inflammation and immune regulation.
