Target Information
UBA2 is involved in the covalent attachment of one protein to another, a prominent posttranslational modification. Ubiquitin is the most familiar of these modifiers, but SUMO (Sentrin) has recently gained attention for its role in stabilizing target proteins and influencing subcellular localization.
SUMO conjugation (SUMO-1, SUMO-2, SUMO-3) requires the coordinated action of the E1-activating enzyme SAE1/SAE2, the E2-conjugating enzyme Ubc9, and an E3-like SUMO ligase.
