Target Information
NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) links transcriptional regulation directly to intracellular energetics and coordinates multiple cellular functions such as cell cycle, DNA damage response, metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy.
SIRT1 modulates chromatin function through histone deacetylation and can promote histone and DNA methylation changes leading to transcriptional repression.
It plays essential roles in skeletal muscle cell differentiation and mediates inhibitory effects under low-nutrient conditions involving AMPK and NAMPT.
