Target Information
DIO3는 iodothyronine deiodinase 계열에 속하는 효소로, 갑상선 호르몬의 비활성화를 촉매합니다. Prohormone thyroxine (T4) 및 bioactive hormone 3,3',5-triiodothyronine (T3)을 각각 비활성 대사산물인 3,3',5'-triiodothyronine (RT3)과 3,3'-diiodothyronine (T2)으로 전환시킵니다.
이 효소는 임신 자궁, 태반, 태아 및 신생아 조직에서 높게 발현되어 배아 발달 중 갑상선 호르몬 비활성화 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
또한 selenocysteine (Sec) 잔기를 포함하며, 이는 효소 활성에 필수적입니다. Selenocysteine은 일반적으로 번역 종료를 의미하는 UGA 코돈에 의해 암호화되며, SECIS(stem-loop structure)라 불리는 3' UTR 내 공통 서열을 통해 UGA가 정지 신호가 아닌 Sec 코돈으로 인식됩니다.
