Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned, and individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates.
Advantages include:
- Enhanced specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulation
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
BPI (Bactericidal/Permeability-Increasing protein) is a 55 kDa antimicrobial protein located in the primary granules of human neutrophils and detected on neutrophil surfaces, small intestinal, and oral epithelial cells.
It binds with high affinity to the lipid A region of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) in gram-negative bacterial membranes, leading to:
- Cytotoxicity via membrane damage
- Neutralization of bacterial LPS
- Opsonization to enhance phagocytosis
BPI may play a role in airway disease development triggered by LPS, as airway epithelial cells express BPI constitutively. A recombinant fragment, rBPI21 (21 kDa), has shown protective effects against pneumococcal infections by binding to pneumolysin.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
