Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It functions as a metalloprotease that removes neutral amino acids from small peptides, regulating bioactive peptide activation/inactivation.
CD13 plays roles in:
- Extracellular matrix degradation
- Antigen processing and signal transduction
- Inflammatory responses, cell motility, and vascularization
It is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, associated with poor carcinoma prognosis and protection against apoptosis. CD13 also acts as an aminopeptidase enzyme and alpha receptor for coronavirus.
