HtrA3는 alternative splicing에 의해 long 및 short 두 가지 isoform으로 존재합니다.
HtrA1과 유사하게 다양한 TGF-beta 단백질에 결합하며 BMP-4, BMP-2 및 TGF-beta 1의 신호를 억제합니다.
이는 활성화된 BMP 수용체에서 기원한 신호에는 영향을 미치지 않아, 억제가 세포 표면 수용체 상류에서 발생함을 시사합니다.
