Target Information
The inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family of proteins regulates programmed cell death triggered by various stimuli. All IAPs contain at least one baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) motif essential for anti-apoptotic activity.
Livin (also known as ML-IAP) is a human IAP family member with a single BIR domain and a COOH-terminal RING finger domain.
Two splicing variants (298 and 280 amino acids) both inhibit TNFα-induced apoptosis in Jurkat cells.
Livin expression is low in adult tissues but relatively high in developmental tissues and many cancer cells.
