MST4는 Ste20-like kinase 계열의 serine/threonine kinase로, 전립선암 발생 중 과발현됩니다. 이 유전자의 산물은 GCK group III kinase에 속하며, N-말단 kinase 도메인과 C-말단 조절 도메인을 포함합니다. MST4 단백질은 골지체(Golgi apparatus)에 위치하며, GM130 단백질 결합을 통해 활성화됩니다. 또한 caspase-3에 의해 절단되어 세포자멸(apoptosis) 경로에 관여할 수 있습니다. 여러 가지 대체 스플라이싱 변형이 보고되었습니다.
