Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis that can either inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family can form dimers to modulate apoptosis. Bag1 forms a heterodimer with BCL-2, enhancing its anti-apoptotic effect. Bax and Bak are critical for cytochrome c release from mitochondria, initiating apoptosis. Constitutive expression of BCL-2, such as through translocation to the Ig heavy chain locus, is associated with follicular lymphoma. Overexpression of BCL-2 has been linked to various human cancers, including B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer. Two transcript variants of BCL-2 differ in their C-terminal ends due to alternative splicing.
