Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis that can either inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family dimerize to modulate apoptosis. For example, Bag1 forms a heterodimer with BCL-2 to enhance its anti-apoptotic effect. Bax and Bak promote cytochrome c release from mitochondria, initiating apoptosis. Overexpression or translocation of BCL-2 is associated with follicular lymphoma and other cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer. Two transcript variants of BCL-2 differ at their C-terminal ends.
