- Specificity: The antibody binds to the C-terminus of rhodopsin on the cytoplasmic side of disk membranes.
Epitope sequence:TETSQVAPA
The Rho1D4 monoclonal antibody requires a free carboxylate group at the C-terminus for high-affinity binding.
Amidation of the carboxyl group reduces immunoreactivity by over 100-fold.
Target Information
Visual pigments such as rhodopsin and porphyropsin are light-absorbing molecules that mediate vision.
Rhodopsin consists of an apoprotein, opsin, covalently linked to 11-cis-retinal.
This receptor is coupled to the activation of phospholipase C.
Porphyropsin consists of opsin covalently linked to 11-cis 3,4-didehydroretinal.
