- Specificity: The antibody binds to the C-terminus of rhodopsin on the cytoplasmic side of disk membranes.
- Epitope sequence:
TETSQVAPA - The Rho1D4 monoclonal antibody requires a free carboxylate group for high affinity binding. Amidation of the carboxyl group lowers immunoreactivity by over 100 fold.
Target Information
Visual pigments such as rhodopsin and porphyropsin are light-absorbing molecules that mediate vision.
Rhodopsin consists of an apoprotein (opsin) covalently linked to 11-cis-retinal, which activates phospholipase C.
Porphyropsin consists of opsin covalently linked to 11-cis 3,4-didehydroretinal.
