Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have diverse functions, often involving transcriptional activation or repression. Most zinc-finger proteins possess a Kruppel-type DNA-binding domain and a KRAB domain, which interacts with KAP1 to recruit histone-modifying proteins.
ZFAND1 (AN1-type zinc finger protein 1) is a 268-amino-acid protein containing two AN1-type zinc fingers. These domains are typically found in proteins with ubiquitin-like domains and are involved in the ubiquitination pathway. AN1-type zinc fingers have six conserved cysteines and two histidines forming a zinc-bound alpha/beta fold. Two isoforms of ZFAND1 are produced by alternative splicing.
